Black Pomfret is a very tasty fish but it must be fresh to bring out the flavors. This fish is so easy & quick to prepare with very few spices . It is a perfect accompaniment with pulao, steamed rice & dal fry /rice & curry. It is a great cocktail snack too. Simplicity is the key to this wonderful preparation .. J Bon Appetit !
8 fillets Black Pomfret
1 tsp. Red Chilli pwd.
½ tsp. Cumin pwd. (Jeera)
¼ tsp. Turmeric pwd. (Haldi)
1 tsp. fresh Lime juice/ few drops of vinegar
1/3 cup Wheat Flour
3 tbsps. Vegetable Oil
Salt to taste
Method :
Wash the fillets of black pomfret & drain well & place in a plate.
To this add lime juice & salt to taste & mix well.
Then mix together red chilli pwd., cumin pwd.,turmeric pwd. & apply this to the fish. Make sure it coats well. Let it sit for about 10 mins.
Meanwhile heat oil in a pan till hot.
Next place the wheat flour in a plate & roll each fillet in this dry flour & gently slide in the pan & fry on med. heat on both sides till cooked & golden & slightly crisp.
Serve with pulao or with rice & curry or steamed rice & dal fry.

Turned out great, only added curry leaves when frying.
