To make a delicious and crunchy fresh salad you need just a few ingredients which are mostly available in your kitchen. I love to include seasonal fruits in my salad. Fruits add some natural sweetness and tang to the salad. I am fond of iceberg lettuce and my family likes the crunch.
All the ingredients for this salad were in my fridge and so it was super quick, simple and easy. We sometimes like to just enjoy the salad the way it is. I must say it does make a light meal. Do give this pear & ham salad a try but make sure to fix it just when you are ready to eat to relish the crunch. 😀
Ingredients :
- 2 ripe Pears (cored & cubed)
- 4 slices Ham (cut into strips)
- 1 cup sliced Bell Peppers Red, Yellow, Green)
- 6 leaves Iceberg Lettuce (roughly torn & soaked in cold water)
- 6 pitted Black Olives
For the Dressing :
Combine the ingredients given below in a small bowl or in a bottle. Whisk well if using a bowl or shake well if using a bottle.
- 1 tbsp. Cider Vinegar
- 1 tsp. Honey
- 2 tbsp. Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Salt & Pepper to taste
Procedure :
Before arranging your salad, use a salad spinner to remove excess water from the iceberg lettuce.
Lightly shallow fry the ham strips in a little olive oil & set aside.
Just before serving, fill your salad bowl with torn iceberg lettuce, sliced bell peppers, cubed pears, shallow fried strips of ham and black olives.
Pour just enough dressing & toss the salad well. Pass the remaining dressing around the table for those who would like more of it.
Serve garnished with a few more olives. Eat immediately to enjoy the crunch.
